Along the Chao Phaya.
Along the Chao Phaya.
Along the Chao Phaya.
Thonburi.
Thonburi.
Along the Chao Phaya.
We had a restless night
with family in
Lat Krabang.
We get up on time and drink coffee and eat something.
The cat went outside last night, as usual, but did not come back this morning.
We hear him meowing regularly, but we do not see him anywhere and he does not respond to
calls.
In the course of the morning, Tom discovers the cat under the car of the neighbours behind
a closed gate.
The cat manages to crawl under the gate and the animal goes home with us, very scared and
with a wound on its lower lip.
Later, after having eaten a lot, the cat becomes calmer again.
Around eleven o'clock we take a taxi to Airport
Link Lat Krabang station and take the train to Makasan, a fifteen minute drive.
But by car it will take at least an hour.
On Makasan we walk, completely covered, to
Metro station Phetchaburi where we take the metro to Sanam Chai station near the
Chao Phaya.
We go upstairs via the exit at the Museum Siam where there is an exhibition.
Because we are 70 years and older we can enter for free, and it turns out to be the same
exhibition about 'Thainess' that we saw
last year.
After looking around we go for something to eat at
Siam Origins, a restaurant on the grounds of the museum.
The food, Phat Mie Khorat and Khanom Chin Nam Ja with lobster, tastes very good.
After dinner we walk to the Rajinee pier where we buy tickets for the
Express Boat to Thonburi.
It is nice and cool on the water of the river, a relief after overheated Bangkok.
In Thonburi we look around at the shops on Thanon Pracharat opposite the pier.
It is also quite warm there.
We take an Express Boat back to Bangkok, it turns out to be the same boat that we came on.
We get off at the Tha Chang pier and walk to the
Savoey Tha Maharat restaurant, where we want to sit outside.
It is much too warm, except for a large group of German holidaymakers, we sit inside like
many other guests.
There we order oysters and kang (rock lobster) with Thai basil, and that tastes very good.
After a while we sit outside again, it has cooled down and the sun has set, and now it is
quite bearable.
We order blanched sea bass with a tasty sauce and we are surprised by the large number
(dozens) of boats with dinner cruises, most of which seem very empty.
We take a taxi, the metro, the overcrowded airport link and a taxi back home where we have a quiet drink of wine and a beer.

We tell what we have done and experienced during a trip and we also tell what we think about it; no more and no less.
This is not a travel guide, nor is it advice to visit a place or not.
There are other sites for that.
Our opinion about places where we have eaten, drunk or slept is not intended as a (positive or negative) assessment,
there are other sites for that.
It is our view of the situation at a certain moment and that view is influenced by our mood,
the weather and many other factors.
